The Continuity of Care Service (formerly Medical Guard) is activated, following a telephone call, by dialing the single national number 116 117 to which the Regional Operations Center responds and forwards the calls based on the resident's residence or the origin of the call.
Continuity of Care doctors provide a service for illness situations that cannot be referred to your doctor and offer telephone advice if the problem can be resolved in this way, or invite the patient to reach the Continuity of Care office for a outpatient evaluation.
Continuity of Care doctors, if they deem it necessary, can carry out a home visit or activate the Emergency Emergency Service.
Timetables
The Continuity of Care Service is available on the following days and times:
- Saturdays and holidays: 24 hours a day
- From Monday to Friday: from 8.00pm to 8.00am
- On August 14th, December 24th and 31st the service starts at 8:00 am
- Weekly eves (in 2024 on 24 and 30 April, 31 October) the service starts at 2.00 pm

We also inform you that for any need the health care service will also be provided at the primary care doctors' clinics.

The service provided in the form of an occasional visit requires direct payment by the patient with the following rates:
- €. 20.00.= for outpatient visits
- €. 35.00.= for home visits or at accommodation facilities.
Finally, it should be noted that in the case of urgent services the reference service remains the Emergency Room or the Urgent Emergency services by contacting the single number 112.
