Schignano it is a municipality of 864 inhabitants located at an altitude of 650 meters above sea level. It extends over an area of 1012 hectares, is made up of the union of different hamlets and is surrounded by the Comana, Sasso Gordona, Crocione and Monte di San Zeno mountains.
It is one of the most famous and sought-after destinations in the Val d'Intelvi given the frequent events that are organized very frequently here, of which the Carnival is the most important. A plaque at the entrance to the local cemetery commemorates the citizen Giuseppe Peduzzi, who was one of the victims of the Titanic shipwreck.
