Castiglione d'Intelvi it is a place located at an altitude of 650 meters above sea level. After the end of the ten-year war between How and Milan, the Camozzi family came into possession of this fiefdom and built a castle with a tower, from which the town later took its name. Of these two buildings, only a few ruins have survived, while the house-fort built by the subsequent owners, the Mariani, has been preserved almost intact.
The Rusconi family then took possession of Castiglione, which in 1527 passed into the hands of Gian Giacomo De' Medici from Medeghi. It was then the capital of the valley district during the Austrian domination of Italy.
Since January 2018 the largest municipality of has been created Intelvi Valley Centre of which it is part together with Casasco And San Fedele Intelvi.
