The Big Bench of Centro Valle Intelvi

Art and culture
Big Bench Community Project

In the municipality of Centro Valle Intelvi from 8 August 2021 you will be able to admire the landscape sitting on a splendid "giant bench"!

The place defined for the installation is the mountain pasture at the foot of Pizzo della Croce in the Bolla area. Leave your car in the large car park available and you will reach the bench in a few minutes on foot.

The giant bench has the colors of the Municipality's coat of arms: petrol green and fuchsia red, while the light green will represent the natural environment of the mountain pasture in which it is located.

Born from the idea of the American designer Chris Bangle, the famous giant benches from which you can admire the landscape are part of a non-profit initiative called "Big Bench Community Project". At the moment there are 168 of these "oversized" installations which aim to increase tourism, making people discover the territories and some beautiful views, supporting the local communities and the artisan excellence of the countries in which they are located. The benches cannot be built using public funds but they are all the result of the voluntary work of the organizations that decide to install one on their territory.

In the municipality of Centro Valle Intelvi the promoters of the initiative were the Trematera della Valle Intelvi Association, the Friends of the Casasco Museum Association, the Per Castiglione Association, Pro Loco Casasco and Team Bike Valle Intelvi which, with the support of the Municipality of Centro Valle Intelvi and Valle Intelvi Turismo continued the initiative. In the Centro Valle Intelvi area there are 9 commercial activities where it is possible to purchase the passport and the stamp of the first giant bench in the Intelvi area: Punto Bar, Bar Sport, Ristorante La Bolla, L'osteria dell'Alpe, Bar Pizzeria Bellavista, Valleverde Restaurant, Capanna Bruno Restaurant, Baita di Orimento and Il Baretto. One way to make a visit to the Great Benches even more fun is to collect the stamps of each bench in your passport!
