An interesting meeting!
On August 4th at 5:00 pm, in Laino, at the Oratory of San Lorenzo, we await you for the meeting featuring Benedetto Antelami and the Tibaldi family.
Professor Saverio Lomartire and Professor Andrea Spiriti will illustrate the artists.
Saverio Lomartire is an associate professor of History of Medieval Art at the University of Insubria and has published numerous articles on various aspects of the art of this period: architecture, epigraphy, painting and miniature, luxury arts, with a prevalent interest in medieval sculpture and architecture of Northern Italy. He is one of the greatest scholars of medieval sculpture.
Among his most important works, close to the theme of the meeting, we recall: Introduction to the architecture of the Baptistery of Parma and Themes and techniques of sculpture between the 7th and 8th centuries in Langobardia Maior.
Who better than Prof. Lomartire to delve deeper into the figure of the greatest medieval sculptor of the Valley?
Andrea Spiriti, full professor of Modern Art History at the University of Insubria, is the Scientific Director of the Association for the Protection and Conservation of the Cultural Heritage of the Intelvi Valley.
An extremely prolific author, he dedicated numerous works to the Artists of the Lakes. He is responsible for the valorization of the work of many of these artists, with particular reference to the Baroque and Rococo periods, without neglecting the Renaissance.
Prof. Spiriti intends to introduce us, in addition to the more famous Pellegrino Tibaldi, also to his brother Domenico, his cousin Andrea and his son Domenico.
