It will be performed on Saturday 1 June 2024 at the Palalanzo in Alta Valle Intelvi The saga of Theodoric of Verona, a cycle of symphonic poems for wind orchestra, which will be performed by the Orchestra “Philharmonic Mosaic” of Bellinzona and from the “Alta Leventina Philharmonic” of Airolo, gathered together for the occasion.
The work, composed of Matteo Manzolini, already represented in Alta Valle Intelvi on the occasion of the national preview in January 2023, retraces the main events of the "Thidrekssaga Af Bern”, a medieval epic-chivalric saga of Germanic origin, which narrates the adventures of Theodoric of Verona, a figure based on the historical character of the king of the Goths, Theodoric the Great.
The work is divided into four "cantos", according to the following program:
The direction of the two combined wind orchestras, for a total of over seventy elements, is entrusted to Luca Medici, director of the School of Music of the Conservatory of Italian Switzerland.
The events of the saga will be narrated, interspersed with music, by Roberto Albin, in the guise of a troubadour of ancient times, while the cycle of Gothic stained glass windows created on the same theme by Martino Manzolini.
The cultural event is sponsored by the Municipality of Alta Valle Intelvi.
