Poetic Intelvi Valley – the difficult journey of women and their slaughter
Andrea Vitali, President of the Jury of the second edition of the project
Schignano, 18 July 2024 – Poetry is woman: an important achievement at the “Valle Intelvi poetica” poetry competition organized by the Municipality of Schignano in collaboration with APPACuVI. The new edition of the competition saw an extraordinarily high participation of female authors. The 47% of the productions received in fact bears a female signature, confirming once again that poetry is female.
Women were the fulcrum of this edition, contributing significantly to the quality and depth of the works presented. The themes most covered concern the female condition in various countries around the world, hidden abuses and untold cruelties, psychological violence, news episodes with particular reference to Giulia Cecchettin and the figure of women in mythology.
The winning poems (first, second and third place) together with two poems in memory of Aurora Casartelli and two poems in memory of Pompeo Peduzzi will be included in a Poetic Path located in the municipality of Schignano entitled "The difficult path of women in history" .
The awards ceremony will be held on Saturday 27 July at 5.30 pm in the garden of the parish house of Schignano in via Domenico Giobbi, 5 and, in case of bad weather, at the former Peduzzi Donato Laneé nursery school in via Nosee, 12 in Occagno, Schignano.

Motivation for First Ranked Work – Adult Section. 1st Prize: Capelli al vento by Oriano Bertoloni. The poem “Hair in the Wind” evokes the duality between the dream of freedom and the harsh reality of imprisonment. The initial hope of emancipation and rebellion, expressed by the hair in the wind, shatters against the ferocious oppressive reality. Despite the desperation, the desire to fly emerges: the idea of the unreal frees us from the condition of isolation given by being a woman, offering a reflection on human resilience. From a stylistic point of view, a clever use of enjambement emerges.
The event is included in the broader program of the PNRR project "The culture that welcomes - Comacini villages network", promoted by the Ministry of Culture. This project places the identity of the territory, its history and its legends at the centre, enhancing the cultural heritage for those born in these places and for all those who wish to know the Valley better.
