Anyone looking for a place of silence and peace cannot fail to visit Erbonne, a village immersed in silence and nature where time seems to have stopped.
The small town, at 945 meters above sea level, is the guardian of a thousand-year history. Here numerous geometrically shaped worked flint tools dating back to the beginning of the 6th millennium BC were found, traces of bivouacs dating back to the Mesolithic era and ceramic fragments which, together with a bronze axe, date back to the end of the of the Bronze Age and the 8th century BC; a tomb containing two jars, a Roman coin and two bronze rings can then be attributed to the second Iron Age.
Its geographical position, a few steps from the Swiss border, also makes Erbonne a protagonist of more recent history: it is here that today the "Small Smuggling Museum" is located in memory of the "barracks" of the Guardia di Finanza closed in November 1977; the Financiers have carried out the anti-smuggling service here 24 hours a day since 1947.
A short distance away, reachable in about twenty minutes along an easy path, is Scudelatte, a Swiss town in the Val di Muggio and place of origin of five of the only nine inhabitants of Erbonne! The relationship between these two villages has always been very close; just think that until 1918, the year in which the small cemetery of Erbonne was built, the coffins were carried on the shoulders through the woods to the cemetery of Scudellate. Subsequently the construction of the Church of the Sacred Heart, built in 1922.
The beauty of this village will only leave you speechless!
An event not to be missed is the village festival held on the first Sunday in August.
!!! Municipal ordinance no. 46/2021 of 14.09.2021: ban on transit and permanent parking for all vehicles in the hamlets of Erbonne and Orimento
