Chiesa di San Vincenzo

The complex of San Vincenzo consists of the church with a cross plan, the sacristy and the bell tower. Dedicated to the martyr as early as 1300, at the beginning of the fifteenth century it was enlarged by building a transversal forepart on the façade in which the new baptistery was placed, while the construction and decoration of the dome dates back to the mid-nineteenth century, by the Clainense artist Vincenzo de Bernardi. . The church has two entrances corresponding to the first and third span whose portals, one Romanesque and one late Gothic, are still well preserved. Inside, characterized by a semicircular apse and an imposing marble altar from the 1900s, important masterpieces are kept, among which it is necessary to mention: the "Compassion” painted by Gentilino in 1492, the terracotta by Marco Antonio Prestinari from Claino, a sketch of the work he sculpted in the cathedral of Milan, depicting the “Adoration of the Shepherds”, a beautiful altarpiece from the end of the 15th century with the “Virgin and Child with Saints” and the eighteenth century “Presentation in the Temple” by Rocco Comanedi.

Construction period: sec. XII – century XIV
