“The Legend of Prometheus”: a tribute to classical culture and the contribution of the women of the Intelvi Valley

Castiglione d'Intelvi (CO), March 23, 2025, 5:30 p.m. – Castiglione d'Intelvi Theater

The strength of antiquity is renewed on stage with the show “The Legend of Prometheus”, scheduled for March 23 at 5:30 pm at the Castiglione d'Intelvi Theater. Directed by Christian Poggioni, the work is inspired by the famous Greek tragedy “Prometheus Bound” by Aeschylus, bringing the myth of rebellion and divine generosity to the stage. With a staging in which nine actors wear theatrical masks experimentally reconstructed from ancient models, the show aims to pay homage to the strength of myth and its ability to speak to contemporary challenges, such as the fight for freedom and justice.

Aeschylus' Prometheus, with its heroic figure who challenges the Gods to give men fire and, with it, knowledge and civilization, is one of the most significant tragedies of Western culture. The myth expresses a profound reflection on the relationship between the divine and the human, between generosity and rebellion, and on the inevitable mix between human and divine nature. Poggioni's show, thanks to the choice of masks that evoke antiquity, invites the audience to immerse themselves in a timeless world, in which the universal challenges of the myth are confronted with today's reality.

A project that also celebrates the territory. The initiative is part of the PNRR project “La cultura cheaccoglienza – Borghi comacini rete”, which aims to enhance local resources and promote culture as a development tool. In particular, the project celebrates the contribution of the women of the Intelvi Valley, highlighting their role in enhancing agricultural and hospitality activities and in protecting cultural traditions.

The Association of Friends of Dizzasco and Muronico, promoter of the event, is the spokesperson of this initiative that integrates culture and community, reflecting on the centrality of women in the evolution and growth of our territory. An unmissable opportunity to discover the power of classical myths and to witness how culture can become a driver of change, valorization and local identity.
