Since ancient times the Valle deiMulini along the river Telo has been the ideal place for establishing productive structures that use hydraulic energy, in addition to the ancient road that united Dizzasco to Cerrano with a beautiful “donkey back” bridge that probably has medieval origins.
Of the various factories established in the place in about 1700 five structures (ex windmills, a form forge – store) now used as private residences are still visible and in a good state of preservation. Furthermore, going up the bank of the Telo, the ruins of other productivefacilities that collapsed over time are visible, as well as the remains of a few hundred metres long channel system for water which, starting from a former-dam (whose remains are still visible), conveyed the water to the water wheels of the individual mills thus giving movement to all the machinery in them
In order to promote this corner of a truly unique territory that saw truly unique industrious peasant activity, every year the “Festa dei Mulini” (the Feast of the Windmills) is celebrated, organized by the “Amici di Dizzasco e Muronico” (Friends of Dizzasco and Muronico) Association. During this event tourists have the chance to visit and discover the historic windmills of “CarlettoTraversa”, “Maglio”, “Patriarca di Biazzena” andmany other windmills, such as the windmill known as “La Rumilda” and that of “La Teresa” (at the former dam) that has a sundial on its facade. Thematic tables on the history and clothing of the peasant civilization, games of chess, medieval calligraphy, small work tools, the chance to practice ancient mountain trades (such as the traditional weaving of the walnut), 0km products, archers and falconers are only some of the many occasions for entertainment on the day.
