Strongly desired by the resident population of the current locality of Passeggeri and by Monsignor Alfredo Prioni under the leadership of the parish priest at the time, Don Ulderico Belli, the building was constructed in 1961 from a plan by the draftsman Tino Borghesi and on land donated by Giovannina Bianchi dell’Andrino. The foundations of the small church were laid thanks to the contributions collected by the women of the area who made and put on sale baskets full of cyclamens to collect the money needed to start the work. The small and graceful building recalls in a modern style an Alpine chapel and preserves inside beautiful paintings by Gaetano Corti (1913 – 1972) depicting “Jesus and the children” and the “Apparition of Fatima”. Subsequently another building with an original appearance was constructed close to the church and used as a sacristy. This small place of worship is the result of great common love and since its origins has been a place for meetings, prayer and conviviality. Still today the small church reopens on two occasions. On May 13th with a solemn Mass to celebrate the apparition of Our Lady of Fatima and on the weekend before the Ferragosto holiday on August 15th with the traditional fair that takes place on the adjacent small football field.
