There are several options but we chose one for you, very popular.
Monte Generoso Ring overall ascent 3 hours, difference in height approximately 900+ 400 (for the second variant) MS difficulty, various exposures, descent in broad slopes.
Best season: Winter – always check the avalanche bulletin.
Departure Centro Valle Intelvi - Loc. Alpe Grande (parking), 1050 m. In case of snow-covered roads we suggest starting directly from the “Bolla” (parking) avoiding reaching the Alpe Grande. Go towards Orimento (1250m) through the long path along the ex ski lifts and then in the woods, direction north west (about 30 minutes).
Then, follow the trail of the lower path for the Generoso: crossing the wooden bridge, hop on the path direction south west, first in the woods and then in a scenic pine forest up to the ridge (50 minutes). Go up along the panoramic ridge, with various slopes, for almost its entire length. Then, turn left in the obvious nozzle and climb the last steep stretch up to the peak, at 1650 meters (30 minutes).
Descent: following the north-east oriented slope to Alpe Pesciò (1360 m), take the path that leads back to the wooden bridge, then back to Orimento. Here there are two possibilities:
- Following the tarmac for 600-700 meters, descend to the obvious sign of the old ski lift to get back to the car.
- Go up the ridge of Mount Crocione (Pizzo della Croce) - mt 1490 – until you get to the arrival building of the ex ski lifts (30 minutes), and then down along the steep and fun north side, with various possibilities, until the departure of the ex lifts at “Bolla” (1090 m). - Restaurant. Take on your left, behind the little building, the well-marked path in the forest, which takes back to Orimento and then follow the first variant for returning to the car.
